Random Things

I can't sleep lately. There's too much on my mind. Nothing that's really important even, my brain just never wants to shut off. It is getting old. I can't even enjoy a good nap these days. It's awful. My mind feels really jumbled because of it.

Like, one moment I'm thinking about fabric and how I'll never find the perfect one...Then, the next I'm thinking about cleaning and how I just can't make myself do it.

Thankfully, both of those problems seem to be dwindling. I think we just may have found the "perfect" red and white fabric today. They're not exactly what I had in mind, but I think paired together they'll be really fun and add a bit of girliness into little E's room. We'll see. If I can ever get up the nerve to order it.

As far as cleaning goes...Well...Tyler has been helping me a lot (bless his heart, right?) and our house is starting to look pretty good. We even rearranged our bedroom and it looks great (when I imagine we actually have sheets that match and a bed spread that covers the whole bed...What's with King sized comforters not fitting king sized beds, anyway? Tell me that!). I feel like once we can get the major cleaning done, it'll be way easier to maintain. So, I made myself a little chore chart. I'm hoping it'll help, because Fly Lady just intimidates me. I did steal her little "swish and swipe" thing, though. Because it sounds pretty awesome to never have to scrub a toilet again.
The plan is to print it off and laminate it so I can check off the boxes every week and reuse it. We'll see how it works out. You know I'm not that great at commitment (when it comes to cleaning).

Speaking of yellow (okay, we weren't really talking about it, but my cleaning list has yellow on it, so it's relevant) we bought Ellie's car seat yesterday.

Isn't it cute? We saw that Babies R Us was having a deal where if you brought in an old car seat, they'd give you 25% off of a new one. So, I scowered the ol' Freecycle and found a posting from early January for an expired car seat. I decided to message the lady, just in case. And, as fate would have it, the seat was still available and she just lived a few minutes away. Perfect! With the 25% off and our $25 gift card, we got the car seat for pretty cheap, and we're really excited. Tyler keeps carrying it around the house pretending it has a baby in it. It's pretty cute.

I feel like I could keep on rambling (like, about Tyler's new job. Or about a rug we bought for $12 for the nursery...Or about how good Cafe Rio was tonight. Or maybe even about how I've been obsessed with finding deals online, and it is getting out of control) but, I'll save all that for another day.

For now, I'm going to attempt to sleep (read: play random games on my phone)

Goodnight!

  5. Erika, you totally need the Home Routines app. I have it for my iPad. Even with 4 kids under 5 I can keep up with the deep cleaning in my hosue and the weekly cleaning (and still have time to sew :)
Makes it easy when the in-laws spring a surprise visit on us with only an hour notice...I can always just tidy up and know the house is CLEAN!
