I'm with you on needing to stop the comparisons. One of my goals is to love what I already have. Good luck with your goals! Painting cabinets can be a bear, but it makes such a difference!

hey i totally get the comparing thing. we bought our house a year and a half ago and in the past little while i have had cousins and even my little brother by a townhome that is so much prettier than my house and way less expensive and i just find it hard not to compare! we still have hardly done anything with our house. we bought a spec home and it's the smallest on our block and people always ask us why we bought that one. i guess the whole neighborhood walked through it before we moved in and didn't get why they didn't just vault the ceilings and add an extra bedroom... sigh. also they say our house looks like a beatle or something and now i have been house conscious too! so i get it. our house is so plain. everything came basic and cheap and i so badly want to change the floors and paint the cabinets. i just checked out E's nursery and and super jealous of your beatiful white trim and nice doors and thick pretty carpet! haha..see, here i go comparing!

p.s. what ward are you guys in now after the split? we are in pheasant valley.. i hope you guys are too!

I've lived in our house for a year and a half now and I still don't have curtains up. I'm 32 and we are still renting! You just have to do what works for your family and try hard not to let that kind of stuff get you down. Maybe they are drowning in debt to pay for that nice house.

Painting cabinets aren't so bad, just pretty time consuming, you can do it!! As for the house envy, I can relate. We bought a tiny very outdated house from a 90 year old woman who hadn't done a thing to it in about 25 years. I was embarrassed and didn't want people over but as we could afford it, we fixed it up and eventually put on an addition. Now I think it was a tad silly to be embarrassed because looking back I was 19 years old when we bought our house, I should have been proud. We bought a home we could afford on one income so I could be a stay at home mom. We are not house poor and my life today is how it is because of our decision to buy such a small outdated house that needed so much work but that we could afford.In this economy, be proud that you even own a home, many people are loosing theirs and your husband works hard to provide such a great place for your beautiful family.
